Lutz Dietzold studied art history, classical archaeology and German literature in Frankfurt am Main. After working independently for national and international clients in the field of Design Communication, he took on responsibilities as Managing Director of the Deutscher Werkbund Hessen and as Managing Director of the Hessian Design Centre, for which he was responsible for the strategic reorientation of responsible for design promotion. Since 2002 he has been managing director of the German Design Council and since 2011 deputy chairman of the German Design Museum Foundation and member of the advisory board of Mia Seeger Foundation. Lutz Dietzold regularly publishes articles and gives lectures on a wide range of issues related to design at home and abroad. He is also a member of many juries and on the project advisory board of the Federal Ecodesign Prize of the Federal Ministry for the Environment.
The German Design Council is one of the world's leading competence centers for communication and knowledge transfer in the field of design. Its
circle of founders currently includes more than 260 companies. The German Design Council was founded in 1953 on the initiative by the German Parliament to strengthen the design competence of the
German economy. Its diverse activities pursue one goal: Communicate the long-term increase in brand value through the strategic use of design.
