"Even contemporary problems are not solved by the fact that nowadays design transforms not only material things but also virtual or augmented realities in
addition. It is still a question of the usefulness of relationships and what a mass-produced product can contribute to this. The goal remains the well-being of humans and all other living beings.
The usefulness is to be questioned thereby (self-)critically, in respect to criteria such as sustainabilty, fairness and commitment.
Stephan Ott has worked as a freelance author, journalist and editor focusing on design since 1994. up until the end of 2019 he was Chief Editor of the design magazine form. From 1999 to 2012, he was Head of Press and Public Relations at the German Design Council, where he was most recently responsible for the communications strategy and conception, as
well as the editorial department. He studied German, history, and politics, as well as theatre, film, and television studies and wrote his final dissertation on the literary work of the poet,
philosopher and design theorist Dieter Leisegang.
