Organic waste is the third largest waste item in Germany. Only about half of the collected amount is processed industrially. The rest is lost to the
lost. My project deals with the decentralised recycling of such waste in private households. "Bokashi" is a method of recycling organic waste originating from Japan. Here
the mass is not composted but fermented. The finished ferment can be used on site for the cultivation of ornamental and useful plants. The result is a self-contained
cycle is created in which the garden's own organic waste can be used.
"Bokashi O2O" impresses with its simple and reduced design, which gives the product a contemporary appearance. The natural process of fermentation is wrapped up here in a purist
purist garment. The product has the appearance of a modern furnishing object, but through the use of iron, wood, stone and leather it also creates a clear design link to the idea of the cycle.
to the idea of recycling. The use is simplified by the removal of the Bokashi juice at the bottom of the bucket, because this is where it collects. Its discharge and quantity are immediately visible, and the
Bokashi juice is easy to remove.
