imm cologne 2020 – design and implementation of a trade fair stand: Two living room height trade fair walls – standing in line in the room – serve as projection surfaces for three virtual room scenarios. A restaurant, a woodworking shop and the Palatinate Forest are created and then dissolved line by line. What is special about these life-size virtual spatial compositions is the insertion of real scenes using film. A bartender speaks to the stand visitors and birds fly through the forest. At a long table, interested parties can create their own sketch book and converse over ciabatta and wine.
The interior design master's students describe the core concept of the stand, which they used to showcase their university at imm cologne 2020, as »interplay of real and virtual worlds as a toolbox for creatives«. They created a coherent and innovative presence in just a few square metres: A central table invites people to gather together and inspires them to pitch in with the catalogues to be completed by hand. A projection extends the stand into the virtual realm and shows that digital skills are almost as important today as good old sketching – even in interior design.
